Actor Christopher-Lee Power meets Philosophy and Ethics students - 17/10/2018

As part of their Religious Studies Philosophy and Ethics A Level, students met actor Christopher-Lee Power.  During the presentation, Mr Power spoke about his life and career, and how “an encounter with God” in his late teenage years transformed his life leading him to stop being in gangs and taking drugs.  He then went on to study acting and believes that many events in his life have been influenced by God.

As part of their A Level course, students have to investigate what Religious Experiences are.  They also have to question the validity of them, and be able to use case studies to support their answers.  By having the opportunity to hear Mr Power’s testimony as well as ask questions, this will support them in their Advanced Level qualification.

Mr Shelton, Head of Religious Studies said “Having Mr Christopher-Lee Power into school was a fantastic opportunity for our pupils.  They had the opportunity to ask questions and listen to a powerful testimony.  Additionally he gave food-for-thought regarding his experience of life and the impact this had on careers.  He was clear that knock-backs occur, but if you preserve you normally get there in the end – even if it isn’t always the way you planned.”

Grace Deeny, Y12, said “Having a visitor really assisted me understand the impact of Religion and Religious Experiences. Hearing first-hand how it transformed someone’s life really helped me in my studies.”
