Remembrance Garden Assemblies - 24/09/2018

From 17th September 2018, we held a week of Remembrance Assemblies here at the Academy. The main address was delivered by Mr Anderson (School Chaplain) about the new Remembrance Garden and what the University Church of England Academy can do to remember and cherish loved ones departed. This will be achieved via decorative named pebble stones, memorial service cards, newspaper cuttings and articles placed in a display with a special bench placed in the garden area.

The assemblies have been run to raise awareness of the new Remembrance Garden as a place to remember loved ones, a Prayer Space area and an area for quiet reflection.

Mr Anderson, Chaplain at University Church of England Academy remarked, “It is appropriate for our school to have a suitable place to remember those who are sadly no longer with us, reflect purposefully in supporting each other and the wider community of Ellesmere Port in a dignified manner, showing the love of Jesus Christ. I was very much moved by the clip shown about one particular student, Jordan Rose who means so much still to fellow students, teaching and support staff at UCEA.

A Year 10 student explained that, “It was really helpful to take something positive from a really difficult issue, that we can remember people who are no longer with us but will remain always in our hearts and minds.”
