Year 8 students create ‘Prayer Spaces’ to allow for moments of reflection - 04/07/2018

Continuing our current theme of ‘Trust’, Year 8 students have created a number of ‘Prayer Spaces’ which will become an integral part of spiritual life at UCEA. These spaces will be placed at various points around the school encouraging students and staff to consider and reflect upon the core values of Believe, Belong, Become and the distinctive Christian atmospheres of Hope, Trust and Peace.

All year 8 students were invited to look at their own image in a mirror and understand what the Bible has said about every human being. Some students placed a post-it note on the prayer space wall and there was an opportunity for a moment of prayer.  Students were encouraged to think about themselves in light of what they saw and read.

Mr Anderson, Chaplain at University Church of England Academy said: “Trust is one of our distinctive Christian atmospheres at the University Church of England Academy. This activity hopefully encouraged Year 8 students to think carefully about how important each person is in God’s sight and be able to trust that. ”

Macy Ewin, Year 8, added, “It was helpful to face my own fears that I have within. It made me think a lot.”
