Year 12 & 13 Mock Examination Timetable: Year_12__13_Mock_Timetable.pdf

During this period all students in Years 11 and 13 will take part in formal examinations in each of their subjects (see timetable attached).  The rationale behind this mock examination period is:

  • to provide all students with the experience of sitting formal examinations and to understand the expectations of students in examinations;
  • to provide teachers, students and parents with summative data that will provide evidence towards the Learning Programme 3 (LP3) assessment grades; and
  • to support students and teachers in understanding where students are performing well, and to identify what further support is needed to ensure all students achieve to their full potential in the exams in the summer.

Students will experience a ‘Mock Results Day’ at the end of the examination period.

To further support students’ success in mathematics, we welcome the continued support of Dr Sally Bamber from the University of Chester, who will be supporting year 11 students with a number of additional maths sessions prior to their mock examinations, and Mrs Lydiate, an experienced ‘A’ Level maths examiner, who will be joining us as a full time teacher of mathematics from January 2018.

The mock exams will be held in the Sports Hall and will be supervised by external examination invigilators.  All examinations will be taken in accordance with the official examination regulations.  In previous mock examinations, student conduct has been exemplary, and we expect that this excellent conduct will continue during this examination period.

It is essential that your child prepares and revises effectively for these examinations. Departments will be completing work in the lessons and will provide students with revision materials prior to these examinations.  We also attach a flyer which outlines how students can be supported with revising.  Please can you support your child’s success by ensuring they revise at home and arrive to all examinations fully prepared.

If you have any questions, please direct them in the first instance to Mrs Westwater (Year 11) or Mrs Da Silva (Year 12 and 13).

Once again we wish you a very happy Christmas, and we look forward to seeing our students arriving ready to be successful in their examinations in the New Year.
