Year 7 Students gain Black Belt in Karate
Sophie Atlass and Freddy Starkey, Year 7 students at UCEA, have been attending Karate classes over the last 5-6 years and have now been awarded with Black Belt status.
I first started Karate when I was 6 years old. I wanted to do a Martial Art to protect myself and help my confidence as I was incredibly shy when I was younger.
Karate has helped me through some really tough times when my dad was very ill.
It gave me a chance to vent some aggression but also to focus and channel it.
I was four years old when I started in Kid Kickers which is the first class.
Last Sunday, I gained my black belt.
It has been my ambitions to get my black belt before the age 12.
I really enjoy it, but it's also hard work.
